Shibari Mid North Coast NSW
Who We Are
Shibari Mid North Coast was founded in November 2024 by a small group of Shibari enthusiasts who wanted to create a safe, respectful and inclusive local community.
Our goal is simple. We bring together people who share an interest in Japanese rope bondage, whether they enjoy tying, being tied, are curious about learning, or simply appreciate the art and connection that Shibari can offer.
We believe the best communities are built on generosity, respect and a willingness to learn from one another. Our regular meetups provide an opportunity to practise, exchange knowledge, make new connections and spend time with like-minded people in a relaxed and supportive environment.

As our community continues to grow, we're inviting experienced Shibari educators from around Australia to teach workshops on the Mid North Coast. Our goal is to bring high-quality learning opportunities closer to home, so our community can continue developing their skills without the need to travel.
Our Facebook community has grown to around 70 members. Around 10 people attend regularly, with another 20 joining us from time to time. Whether you're attending your first meetup or you've been part of the community from the beginning, you'll always be welcome.
Our Events
We host Shibari meetups, workshops and community gatherings for people across the Mid North Coast NSW, including Coffs Harbour, Bellingen, Woolgoolga, Valla Beach and nearby areas.
Free Monthly Meet-ups
Our meetups are open to everyone with an interest in Shibari, regardless of experience or preferred role.
Whether you're a rigger, a bunny, switch between both roles, or are simply curious to learn more, you'll find a welcoming space to connect with others, practise rope, exchange ideas and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.
These are informal community gatherings rather than structured classes. Members are encouraged to share knowledge, support one another and learn together in a respectful environment.

Workshops
Throughout the year we also host ticketed workshops with experienced Shibari educators.
These classes provide an opportunity to develop your technical skills, explore different styles and continue your learning with guidance from respected teachers.
Tickets are available through Humanitix when workshops are announced.
Meet the community
One of the things that makes Shibari Mid North Coast special is the diversity of people who make up our community.
We come from many different backgrounds and walks of life. Among us are marketers, sexologists, bodyworkers, dancers, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists and people from many other professions and interests.
What connects us is our shared passion for Shibari, curiosity, willingness to learn, and appreciation for the connections that rope can create.
Some members choose to share their Shibari journey through public social media profiles. If you'd like to connect, follow or learn more about their practice, you can find them on Instagram:
Community Get-Togethers
From time to time, members also organise smaller, informal gatherings outside our regular meetups.
These get-togethers are by invitation only and are open to people who have attended our community meetups previously. As they often take place in private homes, outdoor locations or other informal settings, we only invite members we know and who have become part of our community.
There is no fixed schedule for these gatherings. They might include a relaxed rope practice session at someone's home, an outdoor tying session in nature with a picnic, a movie or music night, or a private social gathering.
These events are a wonderful way to build friendships, deepen connections and spend time together in a relaxed and respectful environment.
Our Approach
Shibari Mid North Coast is a community-led initiative, not a commercial business. Our goal is to create opportunities for people to connect, learn and practise together, rather than to make a profit.
Our monthly community meetups are free to attend.
When we host guest teachers, workshops are ticketed to cover the costs of bringing educators to the Mid North Coast. Ticket prices are based on expenses such as venue hire, facilitator fees and teacher costs. Any funds collected are used to support the event and the ongoing growth of our community.
